Silverette® cups are made from solid 925 sterling silver. Worn between feeds, the rim of the cup rests on your areola, creating a protected dome over your nipple. A few drops of your own breast milk inside the cup keep the environment moist, and the cup stops your nipple rubbing against your bra or clothing. No creams, no mess. Remove the cups before your next feed and wipe your breast with a moist towel.

925 sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Genuine 925 silver is stamped with a 925 hallmark. Every Silverette® cup carries this mark, along with the Silverette® logo.

999 silver is 99.9% pure silver the highest purity possible. But pure silver is extremely soft and malleable, which makes it impractical for a product worn daily for months at a time. It bends easily, loses its shape, and wears quickly. 925 sterling silver 92.5% silver, 7.5% copper gives you the full therapeutic benefit of silver with the strength and durability needed for real, repeated use. It holds its shape feed after feed, month after month, and can last across multiple pregnancies Silverette® chose 925 deliberately. It is the right silver for the job.

Every Silverette® cup is made from Italian 925 sterling silver, sourced exclusively through government authorised Italian metals agents. Italy holds the highest silver quality standards in the world, with strict regulations and mandatory certification for every batch. We can trace every cup back to its silver source that traceability is part of what it means to be the original.

Sore, tender nipples are one of the most common challenges in the early days of breastfeeding. Mums choose Silverette® because it is cream-free, reusable, made from certified 925 sterling silver in Italy, registered as a medical device, clinically trialled, and trusted by mums for more than 25 years.

Nipple pain is the most common reason mothers stop breastfeeding earlier than they planned. Cracked, bleeding, and sore nipples particularly in the first weeks make every feed a source of dread rather than connection. Add the risk of thrush, mastitis, and skin breakdown, and the toll becomes significant. Silverette® nursing cups are now available in three sizes – Small, Medium, and Large – making it easier to find a comfortable fit for your body and breast shape.

Whichever size you choose, all Silverette® cups work exactly the same; the difference is purely the diameter, which affects comfort and fit—not performance. The depth of the cup, which is the space between the nipple and the silver cup, remains consistent across all sizes.

Because breasts often grow during pregnancy and again when milk comes in, we recommend considering your expected nursing size rather than your pre-pregnancy size when choosing.

As a general guide:

• Small is recommended for mothers with an A–C cup size and/or an areola smaller than approximately 4.5 cm.
• Medium is ideal for mothers with a C–D cup size and/or an areola around 4.5–5.5 cm.
• Large is best suited for mothers with a D+ cup size and/or an areola larger than approximately 5.5 cm.

If you fall between sizes or prefer a roomier fit, we generally recommend sizing up, as a slightly larger cup is often more comfortable during breastfeeding.

If you’re purchasing Silverette® as a gift and are unsure which size to choose, Medium or Large are typically the safest “fits most” options depending on the recipient’s build.

No matter which size you select, your Silverette® cups will still function effectively. And if you’d like personalised sizing advice, the Silverette team is always happy to help you choose the best fit for your comfort and needs.

You can start from the very first days postpartum and many mothers find it most valuable in the early weeks, when the skin is adjusting to breastfeeding and most vulnerable to cracking and soreness. You do not need to wait until there is a problem. Many mothers use Silverette® preventatively from day one, and find they never experience the pain that might otherwise have ended their journey early.

Yes. You can wear them in the days before birth if your nipple skin feels sensitive.

Wear them continuously between feeds, day and night, until breastfeeding feels comfortable and established. Take them off before every feed and wipe your breast with a moist towel.

Yes. Many mums wear them overnight between feeds, held in place by a nursing bra. Remove them before each feed.

No. Silverette® cups are worn between feeds only. Take them off before each feed or pumping session, wipe your breast with a moist towel, and put them back on afterwards.

No. A nipple shield is a thin silicone cover worn during a feed to help with latch. Silverette® cups are worn between feeds, never during, to soothe and protect tender nipples while they rest.

It's best not to. Creams, oils and lotions create a barrier between your skin and the silver. Use Silverette® on clean skin on its own.

Most mums stop once breastfeeding feels comfortable and their nipples are no longer tender. You can start again at any time if your nipples feel sore, and keep your cups for your next baby.

Silverette® cups have no expiry date. Because they're solid 925 sterling silver, one pair can be cleaned, polished and reused for every baby.

Yes. Sore nipples are often linked to latch or positioning, so it's important to get support from a midwife or lactation consultant. Silverette® is worn between feeds to soothe and protect your skin alongside that support, not instead of it.

Yes. Silverette® cups are certified free of lead and nickel, and registered as a medical device with the TGA (Australia, ARTG 236106), FDA (USA), HSA (Singapore) and CE (Europe). Always remove your cups and wipe your breast with a moist towel before feeding.

Yes. You can wear Silverette® between feeds to soothe and protect tender skin. Rinse your cups after each use. If cracking or bleeding continues, please see your midwife, doctor or a lactation consultant, as it is often linked to latch.

Thrush needs to be diagnosed and treated by a health professional, usually for both mum and baby. Silverette® is not a treatment for thrush, but many mums continue to wear their cups between feeds alongside the medication their doctor recommends, to soothe and protect tender nipple skin. Check with your health professional first, follow their advice, and rinse your cups after each use.

Mastitis can cause redness, pain, swelling or fever, so please see your doctor promptly. Silverette® is not a treatment for mastitis, but many mums continue to wear their cups between feeds to soothe and protect tender nipple skin while they are being treated. Yes. Wear your cups between pumping sessions and remove them before you pump.

Yes, it's completely safe to keep using your cups. Tarnish is a natural reaction between genuine silver and air, humidity and body oils, and it's a normal sign that your cups are real 925 sterling silver. It doesn't affect how they work or how safe they are. If you'd like them shiny again, it polishes off easily with bicarbonate of soda or the Silverette® Cleaning Kit.

Silverette® has been used by mums for more than 25 years and is known to many midwives and lactation consultants. If you're unsure whether it's right for you, ask your midwife or lactation consultant.

Silverette® cups are certified free of nickel and lead, which are common causes of metal allergies. They have also passed the ISO 10993-10 skin irritation test, carried out by an FDA-accredited laboratory, with no irritation found. Allergies to sterling silver are rare, but if you notice any redness, itching or irritation, stop using the cups and speak to your health professional.

No. Some products sold as silver nursing cups are made with a thin silver coating over another metal, or contain little or no silver. Silverette® cups are solid 925 sterling silver all the way through.

Ask three questions of any product: Does it clearly state its silver purity (925)? Is it registered as a medical device, for example with the TGA? Has it been independently clinically tested? Silverette® answers yes to all three.

A thin coating can wear away over time with cleaning and daily use, exposing the metal underneath. Solid 925 sterling silver is the same all the way through, so there is no coating to wear off.

Genuine 925 silver is a precious metal with a real market cost. A much lower price usually means less silver, or a coating rather than solid silver. Because Silverette® cups have no expiry date and can be reused for every baby, they're designed to last.

Yes. Silverette® is registered as a medical device with the TGA (ARTG 236106), FDA (USA), HSA (Singapore) and CE (Europe). It was clinically trialled over two years at the University Hospital of Padova, published in Breastfeeding Medicine (Vol. 10, No. 5, 2015).

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is Australia's regulator for medical devices. Silverette® is included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG 236106). You can search the ARTG number on the TGA website.

Ask for documentation: medical device registration numbers, safety certification and published clinical research. Genuine claims can be checked.

Yes. Silverette® has passed the ISO 10993-10 skin irritation test, carried out by an FDA-accredited laboratory, with no irritation found. The cups are also certified free of nickel and lead.

Mix one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda with a few drops of water to make a paste, rub it gently over the cups, then rinse and pat dry. The Silverette® Cleaning Kit includes everything you need.

Rinse with warm water after each use and pat dry with a soft cloth. You can wash them occasionally with mild hand soap. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, sterilising tablets and hard scourers.

No. A warm water rinse between feeds is all that's needed. Avoid sterilising tablets, boiling, steam sterilisers and bleach, as they can damage the silver.

Customs, Duties & Import Taxes

Customs duties, taxes, and import fees are the responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not included in our shipping fees and may vary depending on the destination country.

We recommend checking with your local customs office for further information prior to placing your order. Unfortunately, we are unable to estimate or control these charges.

Shipping Rates & Weights

Shipping rates for many items are weight-based. Product weights are listed on each product detail page. In accordance with our shipping partners’ policies, all weights are rounded up to the next full kilogram.

We want you to be happy with your Silverette® cups, and we understand that sometimes you may need a different size. Because these products are used for personal health and hygiene, exchanges come with a few important conditions.

Eligibility and Timeframe

• You may exchange your Silverette® cups for a different size if you contact us within 14 business days of receiving your order.


• The cups must be unused, unopened and in their original packaging. We’re unable to accept exchanges for products that have been opened or used, unless there is a fault covered by consumer law.

Customer Responsibilities

• All shipping costs associated with the exchange—including returning the original item and sending the replacement—are the customer’s responsibility.


• Original shipping fees are non refundable. If there is a price difference between sizes, we will adjust the balance accordingly.

How to Request an Exchange

1. Contact us by email. Email info@silveretteapac.com within 14 business days of receiving your order. Please include your order number, the product you currently have, and the product you’d like to receive.


2. Follow our instructions. We’ll reply with our return address and further instructions. Package the item carefully in its original, unopened packaging and include reference to your original order.


3. Ship your item. Send it back using a trackable shipping method. Once we receive and inspect your return, we’ll dispatch the exchange promptly.

Returns Policy

We genuinely hope you love your purchase, but we understand that sometimes things just don’t work out. Because these items are for personal health and hygiene, our returns policy has a few important details to keep everyone safe and happy.

If you change your mind within 14 days of receiving your order,you can send back any unused item that’s still in its original, unopened packaging. As soon as we receive and inspect your return, we’ll issue a refund to your original payment method for the cost of the product.

• Return shipping: Customers are responsible for return postage on non faulty items.
• Shipping fees: Original shipping fees are non refundable.

Items We Can’t Take Back

For hygiene reasons, we’re unable to accept returns or offer refunds on products that have been opened or used, unless there’s a fault covered by consumer law. We know this can be disappointing, but this policy ensures the safety of all our customers.
